This is a very clever design, putting antennas on top of a light pole. Telecom has done this elsewhere as well — such as the Mission Bay site for example. Vodafone has their Abbotts Way site nearby — in fact it is just a minute’s walk to the right of the picture. It of a more obvious design and the question has to be asked, why did Vodafone not make the same effort?
In recent times Telecom seem to have removed the base station shelter in the middle of the photo. It has been replaced with spectator chairs. I have not yet figured out where they have moved the station to, as I assume the site is still operational.

This site is located near Abbotts Way (Telecom) — that site is actually located just a stone’s throw across a football field. The design of this site is a poor effort, in my opinion, compared to Telecom’s more camoflaged effort.
MED records indicates that this site has a microwave dish to the Glendowie site. I could not seem to find the dish when I first visited the site in 2004 and I was nervous to have a close look around since there were people inside the building next to the site. I shall have to visit the site again to see if I can find it.
